This half-century-old Old Fourth Ward park has seen some rough times — falling into disrepair after many of its users were driven away by housing demolition, being hit and mostly destroyed by the tornado of 2008, and becoming a hub for crime, drugs, and prostitution in the late 2000s. Fortunately, the rundown, rarely used eyesore was given a $1.6 million renovation in 2011 and is now a beloved, well-maintained hub for the neighborhood, complete with fitness station.
