Glenlake Park

This 17-acre park is the city of Decatur’s largest and one of its most visited, thanks to its prime location just a short walk from Decatur Square and popular community swimming pool.

Location: 1211 Church Street in Decatur (next to Decatur Cemetery)

Workout equipment: Installed in October 2012 by Decatur Active Living, Glenlake’s modest four-piece adult workout area still manages to incorporate options for cardio as well as upper and lower body strength. It includes:

• An elliptical machine
• A stationary bike
• A leg press
• A seated strength trainer

Each station has a sturdy metal plate with detailed instructions on how to use each machine. The only issue we noticed during our visit is that it can get a little muddy around the equipment, but there’s no way you’re going to let a little sludge keep you from a workout, right? RIGHT? Of course not.

Other amenities: A swimming pool, tennis center with five courts, baseball fields, basketball/volleyball court, playground, and an enclosed dog park.
